Slithering Down the Middle Fork
I met Mike many years ago when he used to lead joint trips with the Mackinaw Canoe Club. Mike has been doing this for a long time and always has some good trips. I immediately decided this was a trip I should do. It was a decision I would not regret.
How Deep is the River?
River gages are set at an arbitrary height, so a reading of 4.24 doesn't necessarily mean that there is 4.24 feet of water in the river at that location. The actual depth of the water could be more or less than the reading. Without some first hand experience of the river, and how it correlates to the river gage, you won't really know what the gage reading means in terms of actual conditions out on the river.
